Kenzi Crash

Biography

With a camera as her constant companion for over two decades, Kenzi Crash documents her world while conjuring alternative realities rooted in queerness, sensuality, and subversion. An East Coaster to the core, Kenzi is a queer archivist, sex- and kink-positive creator, smut peddler, and hopeful visionary. Her work blurs the line between documentary and dreamscape, memorializing her community while offering bold visual expressions of desire, intimacy, and transformation. Their work has journeyed from still photography to moving images, and now returns to the lineage of craft passed down through generations.

Eroticism and the beauty of queerness form the heartbeat of their work. Their latest work dives into intimacy in its many forms—between self, others, and the body—pushing even further into emotional and physical vulnerability. Long fascinated by the edges—of sensation, gender, and social norms—Kenzi continues to use queer sexuality as both stage and spotlight for exploring what’s possible beyond the binary.

Artist Statement

I Am Your Treasure is a project which explores queer intimacy by incorporating my erotic, kink-positive boudoir photography within an art installation. Meant to feel like a bedroom, a vanity sits in the center, with a mirror facing the viewer, inviting self reflection and intimacy. On the vanity sits two masks, both made from accessible everyday items, but both also meant to alter/disguise one's appearance (specifically enough to evade facial recognition), and to represent the masks we wear when we leave the safety of our most intimate spaces. On the walls hang multiple photographs, all images which celebrate queer bodies, sexuality, and self embodiment.

The frames are intricately adorned with items found in the trash, treasures found along my journey, and objects one might find in a junk drawer. Above the vanity hangs a chandelier, made from broken bike wheels, crystals, and dozens of pill bottles from sick relatives, neurodivergent friends, and me and my partner’s own mental health journey. I Am Your Treasure is a meditation on the beauty of reclamation—an exploration of what unfolds when we breathe new life into what has been cast aside, and when we place healing, growth, and love—both for ourselves and for one another—at the heart of transformation.
